My Passion for Travel and Hotels

People spend half the daydreaming and most lead to thoughts about traveling. After spending time in Hawaii writing press releases and brainstorming marketing concepts for luxury hotels and resorts, I decided to seek a career in hotel marketing. I want to be the reason why groups travel. My job is to understand a hotel’s selling points for each audience and based on the goals, get their message in front of the audience, whether it be a published article or direct marketing.

I recently discovered how rewarding a career can be with a social mission. I live and breathe hotel marketing, with a hint of non-profit as the Marketing Manager for National 4-H Youth Conference Center, Washington, DC’s premier youth hotel and conference center. My focus is to generate leads and increase revenue so we can further 4-H Council’s mission and provide high-quality youth development programs. It’s also rewarding to help the mission of other organizations who are meeting at our hotel.

I stay up-to-speed by constantly reading and exchanging articles and books with my teams. Beyond the property-level, I just completed my term as the board associate for the International Association of Conference Centers. Because I’m so passionate about hotel marketing, I channel my passion through my column on Hospitality.Cvent.com; I cover new marketing strategies and unique group experiences related to the hotel industry.
